Arts Open
March. Studio doors will be open and visitors will be able to meet and interact with the many artists that the Castlemaine district is renowned for. There will also be a series of group exhibitions from painters, jewellers, sculptors and craftspeople.

Castlemaine Fringe Festival
March / April. Local and emerging creative artists are the centrepiece of this community arts festival which holds events in Castlemaine and its surroundings. It kicks off with an opening night street party spectacular followed by two weeks of events including live music, theatre, comedy, talks, workshops, exhibitions and open art studios.

Castlemaine Jazz Festival
June. Over 60 acts showcasing a range of jazz styles will perform at various venues in Castlemaine, including on a tourist steam train. There are also jam sessions and master classes.

November. An agricultural festival with displays, competitions, entertainment and fireworks.

Castlemaine State Festival
March. A vibrant festival encompassing the arts with large outdoor events, music, theatre, opera, classical music, dance and literature. There are open studios and exhibitions, childrens events, food stalls, a garden party in the Botanical Gardens and an art and produce market.

Festival of Gardens
October / November. This spring-time festival sees locals opening their wonderful gardens to the public, from large rambling country gardens to compact cottage gardens and everything in between.
