Golden Dragon Museum
Golden Dragon Museum

Uncover the heritage of Bendigo's Chinese people at this museum which displays thousands of artefacts, some dating back as far as the Shang Dynasty. It is also home to Bendigo's famous processional dragons. Outside the front of the museum are the Yi Yuan Chinese Gardens and Guan Yin Temple.

Housed in the former Primitive Methodist Church which was built in 1870, the museum features mining relics, equipment, photographs and documents. The museum is also home to historic communications devices including radios, phones and TV equipment.

The museum is housed within Worsley Cottage - a bluestone building surrounded by cottage gardens that was built in 1894. The cottage is beautifully furnished, showcasing treasured items donated by locals over the years. At the rear of the cottage is Squatter's Hut - a slab hut from 1844 which is the oldest building in the district.
