Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race
January. This bicycle race is inspired by the European spring classics and is named in honour of Cadel Evans - Australia's only Tour de France winner. Experience a weekend of fantastic cycling with elite one day separate races for men (174 kilometres) and women (113 kilometres) with spectacular coastal scenery around Barwon Heads, Torquay and Bells Beach as its backdrop. The race starts and ends in Geelong at the waterfront Steampacket Gardens. There is also a shorter series of people's rides open to the general public. Spectators are welcome at several designated viewing areas along the course with food stalls and big screens showing live coverage of the race.

Festival Of Sails
January. Held across the Australia Day long weekend at Geelong's waterfront precinct, this festival offers something for everyone. There is thrilling sailing action as thousands of competitors take part in this keel boat regatta, live entertainment, art and craft market stalls, fine food, interactive water events and fireworks.

Geelong Beer Festival
January. This celebration of craft beers and ciders is held at Geelong Racecourse. Brewers will showcase over 200 craft beers and ciders which visitors can sample and indulge in while enjoying Australia's biggest alfresco beer and cider garden. There will also be food stalls, competitions, live music and lots of entertainment.

Geelong Classic Truck & Machinery Show
January. See a huge display of classic trucks, cars, tractors and restored working vintage machinery. There are also demonstrations of tractor pulling, cannon firing and military re-enactments.

Pako Festa
